How to learn to sail in Helsinki?

Learning to sail in Helsinki can be done in many different ways. There are weekly trainings, sailing trips, short and long sailing courses. In Finland you can even buy your own sailboat without any previous experience or qualifications and learn the hard way yourself. However, it has its risks and may end up in distress at sea and cause trouble for search and rescue patrols as happened to a Kotka resident... Learn to sail with a long or short sailing course in Helsinki?

When I researched what kind of competition there is in the sailing school industry, I noticed that most other clubs and companies only organize week-long really intensive and time-consuming courses. The courses consist of four weekday evenings of 4 hours each and 8 hours on both Saturday and Sunday. Of this, 2 weekday evenings are theory and the rest of the days are practice on the boat. The prices of the courses are around €600. This is certainly an effective way to learn to sail, but I would imagine that it is difficult for most people to devote a whole week to starting a new hobby. I'm a student myself and I have almost endless time, but it would still find it exhausting to spend a whole week learning a new activity.

This is why I designed my sailing courses as intensive weekend courses, so that as many people as possible could experience the thrill of sailing in Helsinki. After two days, you may not yet have the courage to buy your own boat and explore the seven seas, but you can at least be sure that you will be useful if you sailing with a more experienced sailor.
