What is Silén Brothers Coaching?
In 2017, Victor and Oliver Silén founded a company through which they billed for their coaching and organized physical training for sailing juniors. Since then, Victor has graduated with a master's degree in engineering and has moved on to work in his own field, but Oliver continues to operate with even more determination.
The goal is to share the joy of sailing with as many people as possible, and to make starting a sailing hobby easy and accessible. In 2024 there will be beginner courses, intermediate courses, weekly training sessions, sailing trips and corporate events.
Our story
I am Oliver Silén, a 24-year-old student and former elite athlete. In 2023, from February to the end of June, I was on exchange in Milan. July is known not to be the best time to start summer jobs, so it seemed more appealing to create the job myself. I have experience in sales, entrepreneurship and coaching, so organizing sailing courses and events seemed like a natural choice. The fact that my dad already had a suitable boat made starting a lot easier. Role models of entrepreneurship can be found in the family, as both my parents are entrepreneurs. You can often find me helping my mom in Kukkakauppa Stenius before festivities.
In 2023, about 85 people sailed with me, in just over two months. I will graduate in the spring of 2024 with a MSc in economics and business administration, after which I will run Silén Brothers Coaching full-time. This year, the plan is to bring the joy of sailing to significantly more than 85 people.
